I've also done a lot of general writing, proofreading and research for businesses:

  • Freelance subbing and news reporting for The Bookseller
  • Writer/Researcher for the Chambers Legal Guides  for over a year in 2002-3, interviewing and rating lawyers in markets from education and charity law to corporate/commercial, tax and offshore banking law. Conducting interviews in French and English with lawyers in over 40 countries gave me, apart from a lot of legal/commercial know-how, a knowledge of geography and the intricacies of foreign phone exchanges second to none.
  • Writing promotional copy for the Association of Graduate Recruiters, Penguin books, and the International Chamber of Commerce Yearbook
  • Researching and writing company reports for magic circle law firms
